This method is what works for me personally. It’s all about what works for you as an individual. It helps you overcome that feeling of overwhelm and the anxiety of wether or not you’re being productive throughout the day.Before I dive in to explaining how I craft my to-do list each day, I’d like to point out that to-do lists come in all shapes and sizes. Side note: I just looked up Things and it appears pretty identical to Todoist.A well-crafted to-do list acts as a guiding light for your day. I imagine Evernote's task manager will be helpful to some but I'm not convinced it's going to appeal to a lot of people looking for task management. I am testing as many fellow users what EN tasks can really do, and what will be added in the future. Up to now I rely on Things 3 for my task management. People are different, use cases are different. Some will probably even decide to give up on a second task manager. I think EN tasks will help many users to better organize their life. If the newly found task manager serves you well, be happy about your discovery. If you enter it into the task manager, you need 2 apps to handle a simple issue A tag in EN may do, but now you create todos in EN and in your task manager A fix reminder date is no good for this. In GTD terms this is the category „anytime“. Say you clip a longer article to EN, to read it when you have some time to spare. But you have to handle 2 different tools. Specialized task managers have probably more powerful features.
If I had the ability to directly connect a note to a task, I would. Then I leave comments on tasks that are associated with files and external notes. For example in Todoist, I create tasks categories by subjects. Then create a way in which a Task can be associated (related) to a specific Note.
I believe this will become a UX problem.Ĭonsider creating an experience where a person can create notes very separately from creating tasks. IF Evernote decides they want to compete in this arena then I also want to suggest that they don't try to fully integrate these two experiences. I think Evernote should consider whether they want modest task features or whether they want to compete with others. Based on these updates, I have NO reason to use Tasks in Evernote. This doesn't compete with the other options out there. Instead of having to locate a note where you previously had a list of tasks, you now can quickly view notes and their tasks in a sidebar. These current Task features are just a UI/UX overhaul. Now that Evernote is taking tasks more seriously I am very curious to see where this goes and here are my thoughts: I've been using Todoist for about two months now. The task management in Evernote just doesn't do it.
I really needed a useful task application.
