If you use software a lot and a DAW, the A-88 IMO would not be a good choice. You can load a ton of patches and banks from their AXIAL website here: The Juno DS has the ability to add audio via Flash Drive for playing along with an accompaniment. There are other MIDI controllers that are more versatile with more options. When you turn the A88 off, you lose the settings. That I know of, (and correct me if I am wrong), no saving of splitting the keyboard into zones with their own MIDI channels, patch and banks, and other control settings. Two knobs if you want to control parameters and no sliders. There is no display to tell you what MIDI channel you are on or any other information. I think I will order the A-88 today, but thought I would ask here first. If you want it to play piano sounds only, then it would probably be a great controller with a great feel.

I haven't been able to play it though, and would need to order it online (though it is around $250 cheaper than the S88). Then I discovered Roland A-88, which seems a bit more portable, has a clean and simple design, and I heard the keys are very close to a real piano. It is quite pricey though, and incredibly huge and heavy.

I was certain I would get the Komplete Kontrol S88, because I do like the Native Instruments plug-ins, it appears to be very well constructed, and I liked the feel of it when I played it in the store. Hey guys! I've decided to go for a full 88 key MIDI controller with weighted keys, which one would you recommend in terms of keyboard quality? I wouldn't mind a keyboard with a sound module, though I would rather pay for good quality keys, as I mainly use software instruments.
